bike trip to le lac Monteynard 5-7-08

why not a trip in the mountains by bike? this time i challenged Ana to do it with me and i was amazed that she could follow... we had to go from Grenoble 270m altitude, to Sinard 840m alt. then go down to the lake at 520m alt. From 10h until 21h10 i did 88km.... Ana had 8-10 more km to do in total.
The courrageous enthousiasts

I am a genious, i wanted fresh drink all along the way so i froze a bottle of limonade. The only drawback is that it took ages before unfreezing in my special isothermal bag LOL!

Le barrage de Monteynard in the back

some of the paths we passed by...

on the slope to go to the lake.

we could reach the passerelle above the lake and the views were fantastic!
it was amazing to see a dog on the passerelle not feeling very well... the fact of seeing the water far under your legs makes some effect...

She did it!! ;)

and me too (resting on the other side LOL)

The relaxation :)

22-6-08 Lasergame: the ABSOLUTE counter-performance

http://www.lasergame.fr/salles/fr/?v=grenoble

the fight against the big boss and some childrens: they ANNIQUILATED the doctors & PhD student!

oops 1 : i left home all dressed in white... big mistake when you know that the lights are violet inside the labyrinth... i was visible like the noze in the middle of your face

oops 2 : i had a sunburn on my back and skin peeling... so the fun effect was guaranteed without the white tee-shirt on me...

i would be happy to claim this is the reason for my counter-performance but i have to face the truth: i am getting old LOL

it is so true...

2-11 th may 2008...

A short but sunny stay home :)

something important was going to happen home and it was better that i was around a bit for it. fortunately it went well and we just have to wait now...

also i continued a bit of my train circuit begun previously during my short unemployment rest.

Step 1: the idea, january 08 : why not have 3 different track levels ?

step2: the skeletton, january and february 08: what is more robust than steel to keep all the parts together

Step 3: implement the steel tracks and build the support of the intermediate levels in the middle of the tabble.

Step 4: march, april 08: think a bit more because nothing is perfect at first...

Step 5: May 08: begin to implement the bones of the mountains and cliffs (wooden shapes + chickenwire)

next: put CaSo4 . 1/2[H2O] + 1/2 [H2O] on it :)

the computer story

Last year i wrote my thesis with a computer that i bought in order to be able to write it comfortably and compute fast structural images. I finished it and used the computer less intensively for the last few months. one day the pc does not boot anymore... still under warranly, so i make it repair. 2 weeks after the pc is back, it does not boot again. I send it for the second time for a repair. 2.5 weeks after, i receive this email proposing a swap with a comparison between the old and new pc they propose:

old one:
ASUS MODEL – A7T:

- Processeur: AMD Turion™ 64 X2 mobile technology TL52

- Disque dur: 120Go 5400t/min

- Mémoires vives: 1024 Mo x 1

- Ecran: 17’’ WXGA

- Carte Vidéo: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, 256MB

new one: ASUS MODEL – A7K:

- Processeur: AMD Turion™ 64 X2 mobile technology TL58

- Disque dur: 250Go 5400t/min

- Mémoires vives: 1024 Mo x 2

- Ecran: 17.0" WXGA+/WUXGA Color Shine

- Carte Vidéo: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 with 256MB VRAM support

- System: Windows XP

i guess i am not loosing... i complained that some cards that i had in my old pc were not presented in the one they propose....
so i complained and refused the swap after they confirmed to me that the card was missing ... the following day i recveive a call and suddenly the very same computer they propose has the card i want. I am sure they did not do it on purpose, but i always am suspicious.
wait and see
i ll get a 10-15 % faster computer with more RAM and bigger HDD :)
youpii

i just imagine having this trouble while writing my thesis and being stuck all the time with the (crap, slow, obsolete) computer of the company i was working in.

pré 1st april fish

To avoid any smelly contamination by the trash from the kitchen (yes i cook by myself :), i decided to put it downstairs in my car in order to drop it in the contener when passing in front of it.

what was my surprise tonight when i stepped into my car and smelled something strange... OOOPS!

It was the morning following the time change to summer time, i have to recognise that i was not really well awaken...

tomorrow is the 1st april... what will i do? :-]

Sarah in Belgium

It always is very nice to have holidays, i can even more appreciate it after starting a new job :) this time i worked 9 days, the 10th was a holiday :):):):) Let's show the nice places of Belgium to Sarah...

a bike tour to Louvain la Neuve with an ice cream as reward for the courageous ones sucessfully climbing the hills ;)

Waterloo:
La butte du Lion with its few steps to climb ;)
No ice cream this time, we were already frozen by the wind....

Bruxelles:
grand place, the parliament, the palais royal, the king with his blue hat (central picture), ...

Manneken Pis

(he had no special costume, he must have been cold :D )

( we made a new friend :)

Les arcades du cinquantenaire, Schuman.

Sarah wanted to climb this wooden stair and see the view from there. Since we were alone in the church, she climbed the thing on her knees to pass below the fence. Suddenly i saw her head protruding but she immediately disappeared (same view as the photo) ... somebody had entered the church behind my back :) i had a big laugh....

The Legend says that "Le rocher Bayard" was broken in 2 (intact) parts by the Bayard horse with the 4 Aymon brothers on him to be able to cross the Meuse (river) and save their lives because they were pursued by the emperor Charlemagne. (although reality would be that Louis 14th shooted the rock with big guns to allow the troops to pass easilier ...)

Reconstitution of a "tranchée" from "world war I" wow that is disturbing... the whole building had moved due to sliding sands and the soldiers had to fight from that kind of place...

View from the Citadelle of Dinant, lets go down faster that by telepherique.

there was even something just for my age :)

Liège

we saw the museum of Science
the treisure of the Cathedrale de Liege with the golden "buste" of St Lambert showing the history of the miracle of the Saint.
La place Saint Lambert (we missed the last visit of the ruines :( the guide was sick oops )

The ruins of the abbey of Villers La Ville

Leuven

And the biggest belgian bug (maybe the year 2000 bug?)

Sport day

Because we can not be all the time in perfect body condition, we went to Aqualibi and the river+ swimming pool :) everytime i go there i need 2 days to recover.... but more generally, everytime i do something when LP is there also...

On the table, the puzzle that Sarah helped to assemble
it was so easy that i could do it the eyes closed :)

Ok let go to work a bit now.... :S
